The Journey of Self Discovery is a turning inward and becoming conscious of where you are in life and why. This can take some time. What keeps showing up in your life and why? What are the patterns you keep seeing appear?
Awareness is the first step. I first started my process of self discovery when I quit drinking in 1992. It was a realization that my life was not working at all anymore and I needed help. It was a choice to make a change. Self discovery continues to this day as I awaken to my truth.
Healing was naturally the next part in the journey as I was attracted to and guided to experiences in which healing could take place. It was an acceptance of any pain that may reside in the body so it could be released. The letting go gave room for transformation and creation to take root and new patterns and behaviors to thrive.
Feeling empowered by learning how powerful and capable I was planted a seed of excitement. This seed took root, allowing me to realize how my limiting beliefs about myself were at the root of so much unhappiness. I was taught many skills that I use to this day. One skill was the power of setting intentions and realizing my worth so I could create the life I desired.
Creating the life you choose is recognizing your own power and worth to live your dream. When I started to blame others, I was reminded to point those fingers back at myself. What was I doing or not doing? My happiness is my responsibility and nobody can take that away without my consent. We have the power to create happiness at any time and create the life we choose. Sometimes it is as easy as a shift in perspective. People are mirrors, allowing us to see…showing us what still needs healing within.
When I am stuck, I ask these questions:
Who am I and what do I want?
What would love do now?
What is cool for me is that when I look back twenty-five years or so and remember some of the intents I set, I realize I am living the dream imagined. I am still amazed at how far I’ve come.
Several of my books and my course, The Soulmate’s Path, go into more detail to help guide you on your journey of self discovery.
There are many paths of self discovery. Setting the intent will guide you on the path that is right for you.
You can’t do it wrong.
