Still growing up!

When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was five, I don’t remember ever thinking about the future. I played and daydreamed and tried to navigate the world as a very sensitive girl.

As a youth, I organized “shows” in the neighborhood and invited all of the parents to attend. We kids would put together skits, do musical acts or gymnastics shows. I have a picture of my sister and I all dressed up, sitting on the fence, while we played the recorder.

I remember once talking to a little neighbor boy and thinking, maybe I should be a therapist.

When I co-starred in the senior play in high school, I decided I would be an actor.

I went in a different direction and got quite lost for a while. I stumbled, fell and navigated rough terrain.

When I decided to take some baby steps and clear the path, I started taking a solid look at who I was and who I wasn’t . Sometimes we don’t know who we are until we first discover who we are not.

I continued to show up and put one foot in front of the other. Over many years the way started to become clear.

I’ve discovered passions, skills and talents.

Creativity returned in full force in a way I wasn’t expecting.

It doesn’t end. I continue to make it up as I go along on this journey of self discovery.
