Whether you are reading a blog, a post or meeting someone new, people appear to enjoy labeling themselves or others.
These days there is a label or diagnosis for just about anything. People then start using the labels to define who they are and who they are not.
The one positive I feel that could be gained by some type of label is to gather more information so it could help you or others understand.
However, for me, that’s where it ends.
When we label ourselves, we create a box and put ourselves in it. Our experiences from that point on are based on the labels or beliefs we’ve given to ourselves.
The universe reflects back to us what we expect to see or experience. So if I say rainy days suck, they will. If I say people always let me down, they will. Or more accurately, that is what I will see because it’s what I expect to see.
Whether beliefs or labels were given to us or not, they define us and others. And when we define ourselves and others we are imposing limits for our experiences which makes it difficult to experience anything outside that perceived box.
What if, instead, we recognize that we are brilliant, yet complicated, creatures with unlimited potential.
Yes, unlimited potential!
Wouldn’t it be cool if we could see each experience as something we could learn from? For instance:
• Instead of labeling your partner or ex, and using an us vs. them mentality, see them as a mirror from whom you can learn from.
• Instead of saying “I can’t,” see yourself as capable, strong and powerful.
• Save your I AM statements for things like:
– A Unique Expression of Spirit
– Magnificent
– Capable
– Strong.
– Love
