Contentment

What positive emotion do you feel most often?

I find that the older I get, I find more peace, contentment and joy in the simplest things.

I often check in on that younger version of me, the one who was lost, confused and in great despair.

She lived in a small rental in Massachusetts. A 20 something girl who had been desperately looking for love in all the wrong places.  She tried to fill the void and numb the pain but in so doing caused greater misery and harm.  She felt destined for something great but didn’t know where to start.

She had to really fall down deep in order to stop the total destruction of her life.  The climb back was long and arduous and continued regret haunted her healing.

So many years later I am astounded at where I am and what I’ve accomplished. Healing never ends but I don’t feel all that different from anyone else. We all have our own demons…battles and challenges to overcome.

Yet as I get older, and others have shared similar thoughts, I realize it just doesn’t matter.

  • We care less about what others think.
  • We fill ourselves up with love
  • We have love in our lives.
  • We now know more of who we are and who we are not.
  • We live a more authentic life.
  • We’ve learned to trust our intuition because of all the mistakes we’ve made.
  • We enjoy the most simple things. We treasure them!
  • We know loss and grief so we appreciate the importance of now.

I’m enjoying this time in my life. I feel grateful and simply…happy. 💜
