Empathic Protection

Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

When we finally realize that our strengths can be the cause of so much misery because we didn’t have the skills necessary for protection — it can be a huge wakeup call.

Being empathic, sensitive and feeling what others are feeling, are gifts. However, when we don’t have the skills needed to deal with these gifts, we can suffer.

  • We become people pleasers at the expense of ourselves.
  • We worry about what others think.
  • We spend time in self doubt and confusion.
  • We might obsess.
  • We may feel lacking, inadequate, insecure and not enough.
  • We might try to escape with food, alcohol or in other ways.

If I could go back in time, and I’ve done so energetically, I would tell my younger self how amazing she is, just as she is.

I would teach her how to fill herself up with self love, affirm her worth and remind her she is enough.

I would walk her through how to use her protective shield so that the opinions, thoughts and feelings of others bounce right off of her.  You can find this free lesson in my online course.

Life is like that, however. We use our experiences to learn, grow and possibly help others. Light and darkness are interwoven into our experiences, shaping us in various ways of our choosing. It’s the magic of being on this planet. πŸ’œ

But if I could have had this one lesson as a little girl or young adult, I can only imagine how different my life could have been. I will never know.

I found my voice (created with my poem entitled “Sweet Spot”)
