Have you ever gone through so much loss and change in such a short time that it left you reeling? Maybe you thought you had all the skills you needed to handle it—only to find yourself having to practice what you teach, very intensely.
We all go through difficult times. Heck, I’m in the middle of one right now. What’s helping me is reaching out and connecting with like-minded people. That connection can be the bridge that carries us across an unfamiliar and sometimes painful landscape.
Never stop reaching out. Your people are out there. And remember—you’re also allowed to rest, to process, and to move on when you’re ready. Grief is real, and acceptance is an important step. Getting help to sort things out is another critical step.
We can list all the “to-dos,” but the truth is, nobody else really knows exactly how you feel. That’s why it’s so important to talk about it, to share your story, and to rediscover who you are. You have a right to be here—exactly as you are.
For me, stepping into nature with my camera helps me return to the present moment. Talking with trusted friends or mentors also grounds me. Daily practices like exercise and mindfulness have been key in bringing down my anxiety. The way forward may not be clear right now. But asking questions like “What am I here to learn?” or affirming “The solution is already here” can help guide your path.
