Two Worlds Colliding

There is only now.

I get a sense that I’m taking in my new surroundings … a young 17-year-old dropped off at college and entering a whole new world with a touch of melancholy.

It’s scary, but something in me knows I have to embrace this, accept it, and move through this new era, this new beginning.

I’m now in my new tiny home, having retired after decades of teaching. Fall is in the air, my favorite time of year — Halloween, dark clouds and my birthday month. And something scary happened recently.

I’m back at Fitchburg State College. It was a scary time, at first. But I joined a team and made friends, and that made the experience so much richer.

How are these worlds colliding into one? I’ve been told there is no time but this eternal now.

I look it up and discover that today would have been my first day of college life back then. Being dropped off at the apartment, the room, no roommates there yet. A letdown, for sure. Scared, naive, gullible, this girl set out.

I’m not the same person today. I was tough as nails the other day when I felt threatened.
Two worlds colliding as one. Some similarities … mostly in the feel of the air….
