How has technology changed your job?

I thought about this question.  With my current job, I don’t use technology much aside from basic computer needs.

The better question for me is how has it changed my life?

In 1995 when the computers were just coming out, I bought my first computer and my world changed! I was so excited to get home from work and explore the world of people out there. I joined online groups, chats, you name it.

One day I was exploring and saw a pen pal connection site and joined up. It cost nothing. I just gave a little information about myself and that was that. One person reached out and his profile called to me. He said he was a writer and enjoyed photography. Keep in mind that at the time, I was not really involved in the arts but was attracted to it.  So I started writing to Will.

He lived in Pennsylvania and I lived in Boston. Even though we didn’t have personal cell phones back then, I drove to Pennsylvania to meet him.

He became my husband.

I’ve written extensively about our relationship and what I’ve learned in my memoir.  Needless to say, my life changed forever. 💜

I have mixed feelings regarding how technology is growing and changing.

It’s fascinating.

It’s terrifying.
