Be a leader, let’s work together

How would you improve your community?

When someone says “be a leader” it usually makes me cringe. Like maybe I don’t want to be a leader but a follower.

I’ve realized, however, that everyone can be a leader in whatever role they choose. Being a leader doesn’t mean telling others what to do. Instead, it brings listening and communication to the table so that all parties are utilizing their skills and passions.

So how would I improve my community?

I was once on the Board of Directors for my community where I live. I enjoyed the space we created where everyone felt heard and had an opportunity to share. Communicating and listening from the heart, by imagining walking in their shoes, allows for true change to take place.

Putting aside the ego is an important self check.

I enjoy improving my community with my organizational skills and helping to create a space where everyone feels heard. Bringing professionalism and integrity is also important.

In addition, I enjoy focusing on the positive – what is going well?

Imagine the world we could have if all leaders and people in power came from a place of true listening, from the heart, so we could ALL work together and create positive change. 💜
