I’ve often found myself amazed at how easily I can go into tunnel vision and see how my ideas are right and everyone else is wrong. It is so easy to be sucked into an us vs. them mentality. We do it all of the time:
In politics.
When we see someone doing something we don’t like.
In relationships.
At work.
However, the truth is we all have a shadow self. We have all done things we don’t like. We have all inflicted harm on another, whether intentionally or not.
When we find ourselves closing ourselves off from other people’s ideas, thoughts, politics, beliefs, we are coming face to face with our shadow or I could say, duality (yin and yang). The key at this critical moment is to look at the object or idea of your discomfort and send love and forgiveness. Many times the other person wants the same things you do but are going about it differently or the way they were taught. When we stay in our tunnel vision we keep duality alive. When we love and forgive, we are embracing the totality of who we are, as everyone is a mirror, and we find peace, compassion, empathy and heaven on earth.
Just for today, listen, show compassion, send love and experience the feelings of peace envelop you.
